Nicotine addiction, the real reason why do we smoke

We have just saw some of the reasons why we do start smoking. But what are the reason why we continue smoking? There are several reasons but the main is the nicotine addiction. The nicotine is a component that is not necessary for our bodies. It a toxic agent and is an exciting but after some inhalations/takes our body gets comfortable with it and the addiction starts: the “itching” starts. It's a huger like sensation (but, be careful, is not hunger, don't confuse them). To restate the body equilibrium, it, is, to be “normal” and relaxed, just like a non-smoker, we need to take another dose of this poison. If we don't do it, the abstinence syndrome starts: nervousness, irritability and anxiety, among others... but this isn't as terrible as we may think. Let's have in account that the nicotine abstinence syndrome is absolutely light when compared to other addictions syndromes such as the painful convulsions and bones pain derived from the heroin withdrawal.

But if nicotine addiction is so light, why is so difficult to quit smoking? We make it more difficult than really is in our minds. When we become smokers, we use the cigarettes as defenses and support to our daily tasks. We use the cigarettes to cope with shyness, to cope with work or even when we are doing something that is enjoying us. We use cigarettes to have an “up” in certain moments. That's the reason why quit smoking is apparently so difficult. But don't underestimate the power of the nicotine itself. It's the main reason why we do smoke, amplified by our fears and habits. So, to be prepared to stop smoking we must reeducate ourselves, relearn our habits and relearn our ways of live to do all the things we use to do during the day without needing tobacco. Sounds difficult? Not really! The only mandatory requirement is to really want to stop smoking and want to live a life without tobacco. You will learn that you don't need to smoke at all! When you realize this basic axiom, quit smoking will be relatively easy and you will feel that the 10-20 days of itch are absolutely supportable, having in account that the itch intensity will be vanishing day through day until it will disappear completely. You will do and enjoy your life normally and you will even forget that one day you was a smoker and needed cigarettes to do almost everything.

Step 5: Ask yourself this question. Do you really want to quit smoking?
